GUI

HeadDB's GUI is the primary player-facing interface. It provides browsing, search, favorites, player heads, Custom Heads, Custom Categories, settings, and administrative tools.

Open it with:

text
/hdb

or:

text
/hdb open

The main menu exposes the features available to the current player, including Browse, Player Heads, Favorites, Search, Hidden Heads for authorized staff, and Settings.

Players only see actions permitted by their effective permissions.

Browse menu

The Browse menu contains public and Custom Categories together with Browse All, Tags, Collections, and authorized administration actions.

Remote categories are loaded from the public database. Custom Categories are stored locally and require the corresponding category permission to be visible.

  • Left-click Search for normal text search.
  • Right-click Search for Advanced Search.
  • Advanced Search supports multiple IDs, tags, collections, category selection, sorting, and direction controls.
  • Search result menus include pagination and a summary of active filters.

Favorites and hidden heads

Players can toggle favorites from supported head lists when permitted. Favorites are stored per player.

Authorized administrators can hide remote heads locally and browse hidden heads from the Browse interface. Hiding a head does not modify the public database.

Player Heads

Player Heads are separate from the public catalog. Access, external profile lookup, economy pricing, and permission to target other players are independently configurable.

Custom Heads

Custom Heads are created and stored locally. They can be assigned a name, category, tags, collections, lore, texture, visibility, and draft or published state.

Closing the creation workflow saves draft progress. Drafts persist across restarts and remain hidden from normal players until published.

Custom Categories

Custom Categories are created and stored locally. They support configurable names, descriptions, icons, permission IDs, visibility, drafts, editing, publishing, and deletion confirmation.

They appear alongside remote categories in Browse.

Custom tags and collections

Authorized administrators can create and delete local tags and collections. Selection menus support browsing and text search without requiring chat entry for every edit.

Head editor

The GUI editor supports local metadata overrides for remote heads and editing for local content. Supported fields include:

  • Name
  • Lore
  • Category
  • Tags
  • Collections
  • Visibility
  • Texture or held-head source where applicable
  • Draft and publication state for local content

The preview item updates as fields change.

Admin Mode

Admin Mode exposes administrative actions such as:

  • Custom content creation
  • Metadata editing
  • Hidden-head browsing
  • GUI button configuration
  • Database verification and refresh actions
  • Diagnostics and update controls

GUI configuration

gui.yml controls titles, slots, icons, materials, names, lore, fillers, navigation, selectors, confirmations, and administration buttons.

sounds.yml independently controls interaction sounds.
